As we head into spring, we are learning about all the wonderful parts of God’s Garden. This week we learned about ladybugs!
3’s
Our 3s had fun putting ladybugs in number order, counting spots, and learning about symmetry.
Ladybug dress up is always a favorite!
Recognizing the letters in our names is a big skill! We put the letters of our name in order on these adorable ladybug hats!
Having an opportunity to do art independently is another important skill. We absolutely loved how these ladybugs turned out! This is a project where it is more about the process then the product. For these ladybugs, students had to follow multi-step directions, use their fine motor muscles, and their creativity!
PreK
It was so fun to learn all about ladybugs! We drew observations in our journals, learned that ladybugs can be different colors, have 6 legs, and 2 sets of wings!
After reading “The Grouchy Ladybug” by Eric Carle, we made our own grouchy ladybugs and wrote about what makes us grouchy. It is always fun to hear their answers!
Another favorite part of the week was letting our ladybugs go to live and help in the garden. We got to hold them, help them find flowers, and even take one ladybug home to live in our yards.
Since the first day of school, our PreK students have been anxiously awaiting the 100th day of school. Part of our circle time routine is counting how many days we have been school. The big day was Thursday! We looked at what 100 looks like, saw how many times we could write our name in 100 seconds, turned the numbers “100” into art, and many more 100 themed activities.
We wish you could hear the giggles this project got! The kids laughed so hard when we told them to crumble their paper face to make wrinkles!
Have a great weekend!
